Sensory Devices, Inc (from Variety, Nov 10, 1971): One of the first companies to install movie viewing capability in hotel and motel rooms. It was a CCTV system connected to a central bank of early video cassette players, such as Zeiss-Ikon “Mini-Theaters” and Sony’s 3/4-inch U-matic units. While Sensory’s catalog featured mainstream studio material, some sources indicate that similar systems already had been in place in L.A. area motels for a year. Unsurprisingly, pornographic material comprised the majority of their selection.
